Double Page Spread (comic books)

Ron Randall has been a versatile artistic force in comics for many years. He's worked with Joe Kubert on "Sgt Rock", Alan Moore on "Swamp Thing", Justice League Europe, Godzilla, Aliens, Predator and so much more, but his biggest pride and joy is his long running, creator owned book, "Trekker". The story of futuristic bounty hunter, Mercy St. Clair, it combines sci fi, westerns, action and many genres into a thrilling adventure. Randall discusses how he created such a well rounded heroine who has stood the test of time over the years, the journey of "Trekker" from Dark Horse to webcomic and now Kickstarter, and how great it is to have friends like Ruth and Darren Sutherland.

Prepare for a silly and NSFW episode as Wendi chats with very dear friend and return guest, writer Andrew Shaw. In addition to dirty sounding perfume descriptions, the inappropriateness of a horse at comic convention, talk of Michael Rooker, wrestler Joey Ryan, 70s porn and how Wendi almost got fired over suspicious banana behavior, they get down to the serious business of Andrew's new book "Cul De Sac". Billed as "An Australian Horror Story" it combines the exceptional painting of Will Pleydon against a backdrop of the idyllic 50s in an unsettling anthology. If you're a fan of the bawdy "No Apologies" crossover episodes, this is a must listen.

Dan Panosian is just a cool guy. He is an artist who has paid his dues for years, working his way up through Image Comics inking people like Rob Liefeld, doing covers for books like "Daredevil" and X-Men titles, pencilling books like "Spelljammer" at DC. He has worked in almost every aspect of comics and is finally ready to bring it all together for himself with the new creator owned book "Slots" from Skybound. A tale of a down on his luck boxer returning to his family and his roots, it draws on classic Las Vegas tropes and new traditions in the glitzy city, delving into the seedy underbelly of MMA and burlesque. Panosian, no stranger to tough guy competitions, is a man who brings his genuine love of fighting to a human story. So join us for talk about Frank Grillo, the evolution of Jumbo's Clown Room, John Steinbeck and a hilarious stripper pole story.
