In this episode Wendi goes to Aw Yeah! Comics to celebrate the release of Oni Press' "The Life After" with writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Gabo! They discuss the new book and it's concepts of spirituality and purgatory as well as his previous work on "The Bunker" and "I, Vampire". Then he makes suicide sound very appealing.
Next is a conversation with Mike Federali, organizer of Tidewater Con, an upstart comic convention in Virginia Beach. He's an energetic, enthusiastic proponent of really making comics part of the community for everyone. He's assembled this convention with guests like Sam Huntington, Joel Hodgson, Pop Mahn, Nancy Collins and more. In the wake of SDCC it's interesting to hear someone from the other end of organizing discuss cosplay issues, the evolution of artists alley and what the real logistics are.

Wendi is joined by documentary filmmaker Tony G. Williams (Carbonerdious: the Rise of Black Nerd Culture), retailer Terry Gant and podcast mogul Darrell Taylor. It's a hilarious and raucous time as Wendi lets loose on the ignorant #firerickremender blogger and the group tackles race relations such as Reginald Hudlin and the Black Panther/Storm relationship, why black characters generally have lightning/electrical powers, rappers dressed like Spawn and the legacy of Dwayne MacDuffie and Milestone.
Brought to you by DCBS, the Discount Comic Book Service, giving you deep deep discounts each and every day and expert customer service for those of you not lucky enough to live near Third Coast Comics!
As well as Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, featuring their limited edition line of fragrances based on David Mack's "Kabuki".
